Hello Connecticut Club DSMers!
Well as you may have noticed just a couple weeks ago the forum went down for the night. This was due to some server errors. Over the next few weeks CCDSM will go through the biggest upgrade since coming back almost two years ago (July 23, 2003). Its hard to believe it has been that long since the site went live again. The entire site will be revamped. We will no longer be using the PHPBB software. We need to get with the times and begin using a MYSQL database which we did not currently run.
With this comes some other news. As many of you know CCDSM has been hosted on the Victor Research server for the past two years. Big thanks to the entire staff over at Victor Research. The site has also been provided free of charge to help bring the local DSM enthusiasts together which I think it has done a great doing over the last two years. Of course no website would be complete without the drama among members but through it all the site still sees over 100 members a day.
Here is what will happen in upcoming few weeks. CCDSM phpbb site will go bye bye. It will be replaced with the newest version of VBulletin. We will also be adding a portal page much like DSMTuners. I'm also hoping to have a 1/4 mile database basically the same way Tuners does. The biggest thing or issue is there seems to be no way to avoid, is we will need to flush ALL members. This means you will have to reregister with the site. While this may suck for a lot of you this will be a good way to start with a clean slate. The information and old threads can be archived but since we are upgrading to a new software we can not carry over our members and threads.
Once all of this is put into play we will be a self supported club. Meaning I will put up a link on the main page for donations that will go towards keeping our software up to date as well as the cost per month for hosting. Doing this will allow us not to have a loss in service. I'm hoping to make the new site better then ever and have the availability to do a lot more. Special rankings, gallery, sponsor banners, etc etc. Of course it all wont come at once but please bare with us as we work at getting the site 100%. For now nothing changes. If you come on in a few weeks and see a whole new front end you'll know you will need to reregister.
I'm looking forward to the new look of the site as I hope you will too. Updates will be given as I receive more word.
Thank you.
